Marriage is an integral part of Islam and a beautiful commitment to hold sacred. Amidst the many distractions we may face, such as emotions or societal opinion, it’s important that we base our search for companionship on qualities which will bring us closer to Allah rather than succumbing to what culture presents as ‘ideal.’ Let us remember why marriage in Islam holds so much importance – finding someone who can complete half our deen!
And we created you in pairs
Quran 78:8
- Taqwa (Piety)
Taqwa can be viewed as a powerful tool for protecting oneself from harm and developing an intimate relationship with the divine. It is not just about following religious rules but also recognizing one’s own potential to maintain spiritual integrity when faced with difficult situations in life. By cultivating taqwa, we gain insight into our true selves and cultivate meaningful connections between mind, body and soul – ultimately leading to a deeper understanding of God-consciousness within us all.
- Compatibility
A successful marriage requires a spiritual, educational, physical and familial bond between partners that help them not only remain connected but also work together towards shared goals. Making sure your spouse shares the same commitment to faith as you is essential in order for it to be harmonious – Prophet Muhammad taught this important lesson on compatibility! With commonalities rooted deep within both of you, any conflicts can be easily resolved with understanding so each partner may continue growing alongside one another.
- Good Manners
A person’s character can be best judged by observing their interactions with those around them. Are they courteous and respectful towards their parents? Do they show kindness to all, regardless of age or status? Pay attention to any signs that could indicate a fiery temperament – they are likely an indication of how your partner will treat you in the future. Ultimately, someone who demonstrates good nature and manners is sure to provide loving care for their significant other as well!
And marry those among you who are single… If they are poor, Allah will enrich them out of His bounty…
Quran 24:32
- Life Priorities
When looking for a partner, it’s important to make sure their priorities are in order. They should have good financial sense and the capacity to fulfil their responsibilities to those they love. While this doesn’t mean searching out someone with abundant wealth – rather, you’ll want an individual who is driven and has the capability of creating stable resources within the household. Ultimately, find somebody whose devotion lies primarily in family life; someone willing to rearrange aspects of career or social plans if necessary so that familial obligations are met first and foremost!
- Physical Appearance
It goes without saying that we should be attracted to the person we choose to marry, but there’s so much more that comes into play. Seeking out a partner not only for their physical looks is an important strategy when looking at who you want to spend your life with; what lies beneath the surface matters just as much! In fact, these traits can actually make us alluring in someone else’s eyes as well and help build an even stronger marriage. Don’t forget about this often-overlooked element of love before taking such a huge step!
Finding the right partner is an exciting journey, but it’s important to stay authentic. Be yourself. Find someone who values the same qualities in you that you do, and make sure your shared goals are rooted in faith. The fact is, no one is perfect – but Allah can help us find the person who will be perfect for us if we just look for them with our hearts open! May Allah grant us all success in finding true companionship. Ameen!
