Gaza War Nearing End, Reports Say

Key plan includes Hamas exit, joint Arab governance, and expanded peace deals

US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have reportedly agreed to end the war in Gaza within two weeks. This move is part of a ceasefire deal, backed by the US, to reduce tensions in the region and move toward lasting peace.

According to Israel Hayom, the plan could expand the Abraham Accords. Saudi Arabia and Syria may soon normalize relations with Israel. Another major step would involve the removal of Hamas from Gaza.

    New leadership in Gaza

The plan proposes a new governing body in Gaza. This body would include four Arab countries, such as Egypt and the United Arab Emirates, along with the Palestinian Authority. The goal is to stabilize the region and prevent further violence.

The Times of Israel reports that the deal also focuses on freeing hostages. About 50 hostages are still believed to be in Gaza. Sadly, only around 20 are thought to be alive.

Netanyahu calls it a chance for peace

On Thursday, Netanyahu said the recent victory over Iran offers new peace opportunities.
“This victory presents an opportunity for a dramatic widening of peace agreements. We are working on this with enthusiasm,” he said.
“Alongside the freeing of hostages and defeat of Hamas, there is a window of opportunity that must not be missed. We cannot waste even a single day.”

    Two-state solution causes debate

The plan may include support for a two-state solution. However, it would depend on reforms within the Palestinian Authority. This point has caused tension within Israel’s government.

Far-right ministers Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich strongly oppose any Palestinian state.
Smotrich said, “Mr. Prime Minister, let it be clear: you do not have a mandate, not even a hint of one. If countries want peace for peace, welcome. But if they want a Palestinian state, they can forget it. It won’t happen.”

    War began in October

The war began on October 7, 2023, when Hamas attacked Israel. The group took hostages and sparked a long, deadly conflict. Since then, Gaza has faced massive destruction. Most people there have been displaced. Food and medical shortages are widespread.

Despite reports, Netanyahu’s office has not confirmed the agreement. The White House has also not released a comment yet.
