In a night marked by both triumph and tragedy, thousands of Paris Saint-Germain supporters took to the streets of the French capital on Saturday to celebrate their team’s emphatic 5–0 victory over Inter Milan in the Champions League final.
While the majority of fans celebrated peacefully, the festivities were marred by violence and tragedy. According to the French interior ministry:
A woman riding a scooter was fatally struck by a car in southwestern Paris.
A 17-year-old boy was stabbed to death in the town of Dax during local celebrations.
Authorities reported 559 arrests across the country, with 491 taking place in Paris alone. Paris police noted that clashes broke out near the Champs-Élysées and the Parc des Princes stadium, where 48,000 fans had gathered to watch the final on big screens.
Despite the historic win, the night’s events serve as a stark reminder of the challenges in managing large-scale public celebrations.
